Responsibilities:

• Apply multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills to the design, development, implementation, operation, and documentation of moderately sophisticated, powerful scientific information and computing services and systems to meet Laboratory objectives. Ensure integration of new services and systems with legacy infrastructure
• Be the primary contact and liaison while investigating, localizing, and resolving service and system operational problems.
• Communicate and coordinate with other technical personnel on projects, including those from non-computing subject areas.
• Define service levels and measure performance metrics.
• Diagnose, monitor, and analyze the performance of systems and services, as assigned.
• Gather user requirements and feedback on assigned system and service projects.
• Contribute to plans for the evolution of systems and services, including security, capacity, and logistical planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Abide by and be responsible for performing all duties in accordance with environmental, health and safety laws and practices pertinent to this position.

Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering or related field from an accredited institution OR equivalent work experience in IT or computer science field.
• Experience working with UNIX based operating systems and ability to work comfortably with command line interfaces.
• Solid understanding of computing system concepts such as scheduling, I/O, networking and file systems.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash and Python.
• Proven understanding of version control systems like git and basic familiarity with configuration management tools such as Puppet or Ansible.
• Ability to write clear and concise user documentation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in a primarily hybrid work environment.
• Ability to collaborate with teams across different time zones.
• Ability to produce quality work and meet deadlines.
